The STAR Project,
funded by the
Tertiary
Education Commission, will provide essential leadership to the nursing
and
allied health disciplines through investment for individuals and
collaborative
teams to foster cohesion, develop much needed capacity and enhance
research
capability. This
will ensure that
nursing and allied health disciplines are able to play a fuller role
within the
academic research environment and transfer new knowledge to the health
workforce
to shape the health service of tomorrow and enhance the quality of life
and
wellbeing of New Zealanders.
STAR will build
sustainable and
collaborative
research networks by funding research grants, PhD scholarships, post
doctoral
fellowships and a visiting scholar programme, implementing a
communications
strategy, establishing a mentoring programme and fostering
collaboration
between the universities and community stakeholders.
